1. What is Hymenoplasty?
The hymenal ring normally gets disrupted after sexual intercourse or even after strenuous physical activity. Sometimes, for cultural or other personal reasons (for example, an upcoming marriage), a woman would like to restore a more intact, tighter hymenal ring and experience vaginal bleeding and pain with the “first” sexual intercourse.
Such restoration can be achieved by a simple procedure; Hymenoplasty (also called Re-virginity or revirgination surgery). It aims at performing hymen repair surgery to tighten and restore the hymen to a more intact, virgin-like state.
2. How long is the surgical time and hospital stay?
The surgery takes around 45 minutes and you can go home after 4-6 hours of surgery.
3. What anaesthesia is used for the surgery?
Most commonly it is done under spinal anaesthesia. It can also be done under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.
4. What precautions should I take after surgery?
After the surgery, it is recommended to avoid sex, tampons, strenous exercise and douching for six weeks.
5. What is the process during consultation?
We maintain the utmost patient confidentiality. Patients must have a pre-surgical consultation prior to the surgery. Individual needs and expectations are discussed at this time. Patients are individually counseled and educated on what to expect, including possible risks, benefits, and options.
6. Can other gyneco-cosmetic procedures combined with hymenoplasty?
Procedures such as labia reduction or augmentation, vaginal tightening, G-spot augmentation can be combined with hymenoplasty.
7. What is the cost of hymenoplasty surgery?
The cost will be around Rs.25,000 under local anaesthesia and Rs.35000 under spinal/general anaesthesia.
